What is Overtime pay?
Overtime pay is extra pay for hours over 40 in a workweek, at least 1.5 times the regular rate for most hourly workers.
Under federal law, non-exempt employees earn at least time-and-a-half for hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Some states add daily overtime rules.
Overtime usually appears as its own earnings line with its own hours and rate.
