What is FICA?
FICA is the federal payroll tax that funds Social Security and Medicare.
FICA stands for the Federal Insurance Contributions Act. It's made up of two taxes: Social Security (6.2% of wages up to an annual cap) and Medicare (1.45% of all wages).
Your employer pays a matching share that doesn't appear in your deductions.
Where to find it on your paystub
Sometimes a single FICA line; more often split into Social Security (or OASDI) and Medicare.
StubParse reads every line of a paystub, including this one, and checks the math adds up.
